The Everflow Academy

We started the Everflow Academy last year to give ambitious individuals the opportunity to learn and gain experience. It’s an on-boarding programme which allows candidates to rotate around different departments, alongside a tailored training plan to support their development. And, unlike some firms, we don’t ask for a wealth of previous experience to be eligible, as the whole point of the programme is to impart that vital trade knowledge.

We asked Katie, who’s currently on the Academy programme, a bit about her Everflow journey so far.

Why did you join?

I really liked the fact that the Academy allows you to experience so many different departments within a business. Coming out of Uni with a degree in Maths and Geography, I didn’t have a set idea of wanted to go into, and I didn’t have much of an understanding of what people who work in a business actually do. I was keen to stay in the North East, and I’d heard about the culture of Everflow, so it sounded like a great place to work.

How have you found it so far?

It’s been a massive learning curve, and it’s been amazing to have so much support along the way. I’ve worked in Customer Services, Operations, Marketing and Talent, and I’m just about to start in Tech. I’ve asked a lot of questions and made my fair share of mistakes, but I’ve been stretched and challenged in different ways, and people are always willing to help. I’ve particularly appreciated the thought that Leeanne (the Head of Talent) and others have put into placing us in areas that will develop and stretch us, helping us to find our feet and to be the best we can be in the roles.

What would you say to someone considering applying?

If you enjoy learning and you’re willing to ask questions, work hard, and have a laugh, then you’ll get a lot out of the Academy. Everflow is growing so quickly, and so it’s an exciting environment to be a part of from a business perspective. The other thing is that Everflow are a company who really do live out their company values. So if you’re thinking about applying, have a read of them, and if they make you excited then that’s a good sign that you’ll fit in well here.
